My name is Brendan Kopu-Lowerson, and I am an Apprentice Builder, working for Jim Gleeson and the team at Refresh Renovations.I am a former student at Mount Roskill Grammar (2015 to 2018) and Mount Albert Grammar (2019 to 2021).During my earlier stages of high school, I had no idea what I wanted to do with myself or what I would be in the future. After transferring to Mount Albert Grammar, I found I had a passion for carpentry and building things.
I discovered I enjoyed the process of building projects and had a talent for working with wood and crafts. This translated into a determination and focus to produce great pieces during my studies, and I excelled in the subject, eventually winning the J.H. Jenkins prize for woodwork at Mount Albert Grammar. At this point, I knew that building was something I wanted to pursue as a career. I love building because every day is something different and there is always something new to learn.
After completing Year 13 at Mount Albert Grammar in 2021, I started working with Jim Gleeson and I’m currently working my way through my BCITO apprenticeship. When I’m not working, I play softball with the Mount Albert Ramblers Softball Club. During the softball season, I spend most of my time playing softball at both Club and Representative levels. In the off season, I love socialising with my friends and family - whether it's getting out of Auckland for a holiday away or social gatherings at home.

Guy and his team have worked on two renovations for us and both have been hassle free thanks to their professionalism, consideration and can-do attitude. Genuinely helpful, adaptable in their work and very tidy! A real pleasure to deal with, we wouldn't use anyone else for our building work.

The 5-Step Renovation Process

Our Design & Build Process

Refresh®’s process supports a bespoke design and build: a renovation tailored to your lifestyle requirements and taste. Your local renovation consultant will manage every aspect for you - working to keep everything on track.

1

Briefing / Initial Consultation

The first thing your renovation consultant will want to know is what it is that you want to achieve through your home renovation.

2

Concept and Feasibility

With a clear understanding of your renovation goals, your consultant can arrange for an architectural concept to be drawn up.

3

Working Drawings and Costing

Next, working drawings will be developed. These will take into account the engineering, structural, design and aesthetic decisions you have made.

4

Build / Construction Stage

Finally, you get to witness your project transition from the page to your property! Every aspect of the build will be managed for you, allowing you to carry on with your everyday life.

5

Your Finished Renovation

The final stage is for your consultant to ensure that all Council and Code of Compliance documentation is completed. Congratulations – your renovation is complete!
